On the Road Reads
Keeping books in the car is a great way to squeeze reading into the day. Kids can get a quick read in on trips to and from school, shopping trips, and other excursions.
Warning: Looking down into a book for long periods of time can trigger motion sickness. If your child is prone to getting woozy on car rides, opt for books with short bites of material–like sports encyclopedias, the Guiness Book of World Records, and Ripley’s Believe It or Not books.
We keep a plastic tote basket in the backseat with a few board books for the baby, who is sometimes in the mood for fliping through the pictures, and other times in the mood for tossing the book to the floor.
For the older kids, we tote magazines, a Sports Illustrated Sports Encyclopedia, and trivia books.
